Blue Ridge Vermiculture is your source for
Nightcrawlers
Canadian Nightcrawlers(Lumbricus
terrestris)
are prized by fisherman and used primarily for fish
bait. They are large worms, measuring up to 14
inches when fully extended. These worms must
be kept cool and they will not survive in
temperatures above about 65 F. Hence, they
must be kept refrigerated and kept out of the hot
sun.
European Nightcrawlers(Eisenia Hortensis)
are great for bait, composting, and recycling. They are tough, warm weather
animals that do best when temperatures
are between 60-70 F. European Nightcrawlers can grow
very large, often
exceeding 8". They are almost as prolific
as African Nightcrawlers, are great composting worms, and produce wonderful organic fertilizer
(Worm castings).
Red
Worms
(Eisenia Foetida) are available for the traditionalists. For pricing, go to the order page and click nightcrawlers.
