Cocoons
Cocoons are a practical and affordable
way to get European Nightcrawlers and Red Worms.
On average, each cocoon will hatch 1 young European or 3 baby
Red Worms. Emergence from the
cocoons can take 30 - 125 days with 80% of the eggs actually hatching.
A successful hatch depends on proper environmental conditions.
Correct ambient air temperature, along with sufficient humidity should be
maintained at all times. To maximize your cocoon hatch rates,
we recommend placing your cocoons in an environment with
ambient air temps around 80° F and 80% humidity.
This can be done easily and inexpensively using a flourescent
light bulb for heat, or if available, a Hova Incubator.
